eDocPrintPro 5.8.7 / GhostScript 10.07.1

What’s New in Version 5.8.7:

  • eDocPrintPro Version 5.8.7 uses GhostScript Version 10.07.1
  • Controlling Access Permissions for the Output File – A registry key can be used to specify which permissions are assigned to the output file. Either the additional permissions “Everyone” and “Authenticated Users”—which is the default set by the setup after installing the driver—are assigned, or only the basic permissions “SYSTEM,” “Users,” and “Administrators” are assigned.

Registry key:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\MAYComputer\eDocPrintPro\<printer-name>]
“SkipFilePermissions”=dword:value

value = 0 – as before; additionally, ‘Everyone’ and “Authenticated Users” are added.
value = 1 – new – no additional permissions are added.

Using Variables for the Output File Path – Maximum Path Length in MS Windows

Almost all of our applications allow you to configure the output path and filename using variables. For example, information from the document (text, barcode, QR code) can be extracted and used via these variables. However, an output file that exceeds the maximum path length may not be processed. MS Windows allows you to use a registry key to extend the default path length from 260 characters to up to 32,767 characters. Important: Individual path components (such as a single folder or file name) must still be no longer than 255 characters.

  • Press the Windows key + R, type regedit, and press Enter.
  • Navigate to the following path: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\FileSystem
  • On the right-hand side, locate the entry LongPathsEnabled.
    • If it does not exist: Right-click in the empty area, select “New” > “DWORD (32-bit) Value,” and name it LongPathsEnabled.
  • Double-click LongPathsEnabled and change the value from 0 to 1.
  • Restart the computer.
