With the FC Pro version 1.0.47 has been updated Microsoft SQL Compact that used for internal job management, from version 3.5 to version 4.0. The MS-SQL Compact Software is now no longer installed separately and therefore no longer appears among the installed programs, but is integrated directly into the application FCPro. To avoid collisions with other applications that also install and use MS-SQL Compact.  Nothing has changed at the FC Pro installation requirements.

Innovations FCpro Version 1.0.46:

• MS Office Documents – disable macros: MS Office documents with extensions – .doc, .docx, .xls, .xlsm, PPT, PPTM – may contain macros. Especially if such documents come from external sources, it is possible that malware code is contained in the documents. A good way to prevent such documents are spreading further and causing damage is the conversion to PDF. In the “direct conversion” the macros contained in the documents were also previously ignored.

• Export and import of all / selected profiles in a * .fcprox file: Previously profiles could only individually exported or imported. With the current version, it is now also possible to export all or all selected profiles at once in a single FCPro file or import from this again. In order for the Batch Conversion Settings / Profiles can be exchanged easily and update between multiple FCPro servers.
• If multiple profiles are downloaded simultaneously via web service interface, a list of names must be passed separately with comma or semicolon via the parameter “profile name”. e.g. “Default, Profile 1” If several profiles uploaded at once so the “profile name” parameter must remain empty. In this case, the FCPro Server first extracted the ZIP (extension FCPro) where more fcprox files are again included.
• fcprox files are ZIP files, which themselves can contain multiple files fcprox as container again. In this way, we can pack either one or multiple profiles in a single file fcprox.

• Profile update with confirmation: In profile import any or all profiles can be updated after confirmation.

• Context Menu for the processing and PDF export profiles

 

• Webservice (SOAP, REST) functions for processing and PDF export profiles: Profile management can now also be done via SOAP / REST Web services. Retrieving Available FCPro profiles, profile upload / download, delete profiles

So far, the PDF export profiles – * .gfi profile data – could only be changed via a processing profile. Now it is also possible to override this setting via WebService. Per job another PDF export profile can be selected or the following PDFExport processing can be disabled.

• Example project incl. Source code has been brought up to date and includes the newly added functions for management of the profiles as well as for the selection of PDFExport settings regardless of the processing profile. It is also possible to export or import all profiles at once.

The FCPro settings and the license remain on uninstall / Version Update.

Innovations FCpro Version 1.0.43:

• Updating of the basic components for the direct conversion and IOCR.
• Separating the PDFExport setting profiles of the FCPro processing profiles. These can now independently managed and assigned to a FCPro profile. Features: Enable, Disable, and mapping via list selection.

This helps stuck DWG2PDF processes, according to the set time-out, are automatically removed from memoryn. In the past, several of stopped DWG Converter processes could utilize the FCPro server 100%.

• Separate licensing option for FCPro options base, plus OCR and plus PDF/A
• Custom separate setup for the OCR component – The setup checks during the installation if IOCR is already installed. If no, it is reloaded and installed via FTP. The FCPro setup becomes smaller. IOCR can be used by multiple applications and must be installed only once. Likewise IOCR updates are therefore easier and the installation of additional languages is therefore possible.

Innovations FCpro Version 1.0.37:

• Processing of MS Visio diagrams – VSD, VSDX both “directly” without MS Office and also MS-Office 2010/2013 / 2016-32 and 64bit.

• E mail headerlabels are configurable and selectable via language profiles. When converting emails information is read from the email and listed in the header – From, To, Cc, Bcc, Subject and attachments, – these labels are now configurable and modifiable. You can create different language profiles and select them in a processing profile – so that can control the e mail headers regarding the language.

 

• XLSB, PPTM, EMZ Image Format – Support for additional MS Office file formats. The EMZ format is a fixed format developed by Microsoft, which can be used in MS Office programs. It is not often found and likely to be classified as an exotic. The format is an EMF file that is compressed gzip. it can be created eg. with Adobe Illustrator. As it occurred at a Customer in e-mails, it has been implemented.

• MS-Office Option – Text as Bitmap convert if a font can not be embedded – In the PDF conversion fonts or parts (subsets) are embedded in the PDF document. However, there are fonts that may not be embedded in the PDF for licensing reasons and therefore may not be passed. With this option such fonts are converted to bitmaps, whereby fonts do not need to be embedded, the visual appearance of the document but remains.

• Text label for the Web service Download configurable – The web service download the files generated (PDF, TXT, JPG, PNG, SWF) can be made by ID number. Alternativ it can also be used a “talking” and configurable text label.

• Additional parameters in TXT conversion – Pages size, margins, font style, font size

• Immediate deletion of Jobs incl. Source file – At the web service download can be specified via a parameter that the job will be deleted immediately after downloading from FCPro Server. To ensure that no files are left on, which are outside the control of the calling system. However, if a job is not “picked up” and therefore not deleted, the job data will remain for so long on the server until the set holding time has expired. After this time, the job is automatically deleted from FC per server. When the holding time is set to 0 (zero) days, so automatically all jobs are deleted an hour after the upload from FCPro Server.

• iFilter Support – fast and direct Text Extraction – FC Pro can not only be used to generate PDF files to, but also to gain the text information from the original documents.  This text information is required by DMS / ECM / archive systems, or from any full-text search engine, to build an index for the full-text search. When generating a PDF file with FCPro, so the text can be extracted from the PDF.  However, this process requires time and resources. Does one need only the text information, and would like that perform as quickly and efficiently, so there is a direct and very fast way.

Microsoft has built into all of its operating systems, a full-text indexing and full-text search. All Microsoft applications that require a full-text search and have built in, for example, MS Outlook, MS SQL, MS Exchange, MS SharePoint, etc. rely on this basic function of the operating system. Many file formats are supported here.  However, the additional installation of a filter is required for some file formats. For example, is PDF filter is not automatically available – this has to be installed. For PDF, there are both free iFilters Adobe and also filters from other manufacturers (PDFLib and Foxit). However, these are chargeable and have to be licensed, but also have more features and are much faster in processing as the Adobe iFilters.

FC Pro has now integrated the iFilters features in version 1.0.37, and can therefore quickly extract text from all supported file formats. There is also the option of creating a FCPro processing profile that extracts the text only with iFilters without performing a PDF conversion.

Innovations FC pro version 1.0.35:

• Aliases can be configured through the user interface:

So far, the configuration needs to be done on an external file. Now there is an opportunity to create or to remove existing assignments under the new options.

• Thumbnails / Preview – file format and JPEG quality configurable:

For the image–preview and Miniature of the original file now can be set the file format (PNG / JPEG) and JPEG quality (from 0 to 100% – default = 75%).

• PDF info field – generator freely configurable:

Previously, the information was fixed preassigned for the PDF info field “PDF generator” with “FileconverterPro – www.fileconverterpro.at“. This information can now be freely configured. Now File Converter Pro can be transparently integrated into other solutions as an add-on or OEM product, since the PDFs generated with FCPro can be reported as created by this application.

• Immediate deletion of Jobs / results:

FC pro is often used as an external service that runs on a central computer. The processed data is transferred to this service, converted and then are available for download.  To keep these files is not (too long) out of control of the leading system, these files / jobs can be deleted as quickly and reliably on the FCPro server after processing.

There is already an option when uploading the file to delete the files immediately and automatically after downloading. Only a single download the files is possible. If this parameter is not specified, the job is retained depending on FCPro configuration for x days at the server. During this period the generated files can be downloaded again. If “0 Days” is configured, the jobs are deleted an hour after you upload automatically.

• Retrieval of result files by label:

It is possible to create multiple output files during conversion. These have been differed with an ID (= number). Now it is also possible to identify these files on a label and then download. The label texts are currently assigned fix, but will also be freely configured in a future release.

• Web-Service – Synchrone Processing:

For the conversion with the FC per service several methods are available – the “asynchronous processing”  – The file is uploaded and returns a unique job ID immediately. About this job ID, the status can be queried again. If the status is “converted” to change, so the resulting files can be downloaded.

Alternatively, there is also the “synchronous processing“ – The file is uploaded, the calling process waits until the conversion is carried out and then gets returned the PDF or the job ID.

This method returns only the PDF synchronously back – without additional parameters. There is therefore a further synchronous method to also be able to download the other files created.

If “Return PDF = true” is set, the PDF will be returned as the result, otherwise the job ID is returned, with which it is possible to download the files with the traditional methods.

• Web service call back function:

 In addition to asynchronous and synchronous processing, there is also a third option – processing via web service call back function. Here after processing a previously passed or configured web service URL is called. On a post with a JSON Body to this URL the job ID and the status is transferred.

There are 3 different ways to define the URL for the Web service call back

Global – this applies to all documents processed

Depending Profile – it can be set for each process profile a unique URL, then this overrides the global URL

Depending documents – The URL is passed by the upload of the document, which should be called after processing. This overrides the profile-dependent URL.

To use the documents dependent callback URL, the new document upload method must be used

Here a particular JSON encoded structure must be passed to the server. The difference is that in this method, no data file will be added at the end. The attachment is separately posted as formdata / attachment. The UploadJobEx6 method has no parameters. The structure must be passed as a “message body” to this method. In the future, so may be added further parameters for this structure without the signature of the method needs to be changed.

   

To test the Web–back call function, there is also an installed test application. This shows the job ID and the status after the preconfigured callback URL was called.

There are now a number of different Microsoft operating systems and various MS Office versions. Which combinations and versions can be used for the FileConverterPro for conversion to PDF or PDF / A? What is recommended?

FC Pro is a 64bit application and can therefore only be installed on 64-bit operating systems – Thus, MS-Windows 7, 8, 8.1, 10 and MS-Server2008R2 and MS Server2012 be used.

FC Pro can convert MS Office documents without MS Office (= “directly”) or with the help of installed MS Office software, to PDF or PDF / A.

Almost always FC Pro is installed as a server application, say FC Pro PC is only for the conversion and is used for no other tasks. On clients you install nowadays, for compatibility reasons, usually a 32bit version of MS Office.

Supports currently: The 32 and the 64-bit version of MS Office 2010, 2013. For the FileConverterPro we recommend in any case to install a 64bit version of Office.

Please note that on Windows Server 2012 32bit version of MS Word 2013 is not supported. Here can be used for technical reasons, only the 64-bit version of MS-Word 2013 or the “direct” conversion.
