Innovations FCpro Version 1.0.59:

PDF Conversion of OpenOffice formats by integration of LibreOffice – As an alternative to converting the OpenOffice document formats via the “direct” conversion, there is now also the possibility to achieve the best compatibility and quality in the PDF conversion of these formats by using the original LibreOffice application.

If enough CPUs and cores are available, it is also possible to run several LibreOffice instances in parallel so that the conversion throughput is easily multiplied.

Configuration:

Important: Before performing this configuration – Stop the FileConverterPro service!
Download the LibreOffice Portable version.
Create a root folder for all LibreOffice instances – eg.: C:\LibreOfficePortableRoot
Install the first instance in a folder under it – eg.: C:\LibreOficePortableRoot\LibreOfficePortable1
Change the INI file to C:\LibreOficePortableRoot\LibreOfficePortable1\App\AppInfo\Launcher\LibreOfficePortable.ini and insert the SingleAppInstance = false line in the first section.

Copy the complete contents of the LibreOfficePortable1 folder and create the desired number of LibreOffice instances, eg:

C:\LibreOficePortableRoot\LibreOfficePortable2
C:\LibreOficePortableRoot\LibreOfficePortable3
C:\LibreOficePortableRoot\LibreOfficePortable4

Depending on how many instances are present here, they are used for parallel processing. So create here so many instances as you want to have or how many of the computers can tolerate. It makes little sense to create more instances here than the computer has available to CPU / Core resources since each process requires a CPU / core for processing.

In the FileConverterPro configuration interface, you will find a field under “Options” to specify the start folder for the LibreOffice instances. Enter the following value according to our example: C:\LibreOficePortableRoot

In the FCpro processing profiles under the “ODF” tab, you can now select LibreOffice to convert the OpenOffice document formats.

Restart the FileConverterPro service.

iOCR / vsOCR Setup divided into standard and additional languages

The iOCR / vsOCR setup containing the language and dictionary files of our standard OCR engine is more than 270MB in size. In order to make the downloads and the setups smaller, we decided to split the iOCR / vsOCR into a “base” and an “additional setup”. The basic setup, which is available through our applications, eg. AutoOCR, FileConverterPro, or PDFmdx now only contains a selection of major European languages and has been reduced to 127MB.

If all available languages are to be installed, this is possible at any time. The additionally available “exotic languages” can be installed via a separate setup.

AutoOCR – Installation requirements from version 1.15.3

With the AutoOCR installation from version 1.15.3, modified installation prerequisites are checked – if these are fulfilled, these installation steps are skipped by the setup and are not executed.

The following components are checked and, if necessary, post-installed:

C++ 2010 Runtime 64bit
C++ 2010 Runtime 32bit
iOCR – Is now installed as vsOCR to C: \ Program Files (x86) \ Common Files \ MAYComputer \ vsOcr – (~270MB)

If these components are already installed, they are not reloaded and only AutoOCR is installed. If all or individual components are not available or not in the appropriate version, the AutoOCR Setup tries to download them from our FTP server and install them. If an installation is to be made without an Internet connection, the setups of these components should be downloaded and installed beforehand.

The AutoOCR settings and the license are retained when uninstalling / updating the new version.

AutoOCR can be operated with one or more different OCR engines. The iOCR (vsOCR) processing is standard.

In addition, or even only, the Abbyy OCR for AutoOCR can be used as an option. However, an additional Abbyy setup must be downloaded and installed. For the Abbyy OCR Engine version 10 demo licenses are available for 30 days or 500 pages – which you can request from us.

If only the Abbyy OCR engine is to be used, the download and installation of iOCR can be skipped during setup.

AutoOCR Version 1.15.3 available

Innovations AutoOCR Version 1.15.3:

New iOCR Engine – We replaced the previous standard iOCR engine with a new product – vsOCR –. This results in a better detection rate as well as a significantly better performance for multicore / multiprocessor computers. With the new OCR Engine, we now support parallel / multithread processing with multi-page TIFF and PDF documents. The OCR processing speed is thereby multiplied, if, for example, 4 or 8 cores are available.

iOCR – PDF rendering resolution configurable – Since only image / image documents can be processed by OCR, PDF documents are always subjected to an image (rendering) prior to OCR processing. There is now the possibility to configure the rendering resolution for SW and color, whereby the default value for SW and color is 300dpi.

Abbyy OCR – New default settings – Based on our experience so far, we have redefined the default settings to achieve the best possible recognition rate as well as the highest possible OCR performance. A single option can affect the processing speed, especially for multi-page documents with a lot of text by a factor of 5 or 10 or more – A 10 page document can be stored in either 10 sec. or in 5 min. depending on whether the “Recognize font formatting” option is enabled or not.

“Remove black border“ – Was added as a new general image processing function for iOCR and Abbyy. Thus, a possible black border is detected and removed in all documents before OCR processing. The page size is not changed.

Configure an invalid license response – Stopping the service (default value) or demo stamp on the document.

Further adjustments: Autostart of the AutoOCR User Interface – is now activated by default. Error while creating the optional TXT file with iOCR has been fixed. Read-only PDF documents do not produce endless loops when processing. The temporary Abbyy Folder is now correctly deleted after the set number of days. Language-specific special characters are now encoded correctly with the Abbyy PDF/A output.

Autostart – Run the application automatically when it starts – iPaper / eDocPrintPro

Some of our applications, e.g. iPaper.exe or other eDocPrintProMonitor.exe must be started automatically when the computer is started. If this is not done, however, you can check it yourself and correct it.

Normally, applications that are automatically started should be registered here:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

If a 32bit application is to be started automatically under a 64bit drive system, this is registered here:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

HiQ – HTML to PDF conversion – Browser size configurable:

For the HiQ-HTML to PDF conversion, a “virtual browser” is used internally for the rendering of the HTML pages. Depending on the window size of the browser, HTML pages are displayed differently with regard to format / wrap / margins, etc.. This is why the window size of the browser affects the PDF generated during the conversion. For this reason, there is now a parameter for both the optimal window size to be determined automatically or to specify a fixed browser window width in pixels. The internal default value is 800 pixels.

iOCR – PDF rendering resolution configurable:

Since only image / image documents can be processed by OCR, PDF documents are always subjected to an image (rendering) prior to OCR processing. The PDF rendering is done with a predefined resolution – so far 300dpi for BW and 150dpi for color. However, the default value of 150dpi is not sufficient to always achieve a good OCR detection rate. Therefore, it is now possible to configure the rendering resolution for BW and color, with the default value for color now being 300dpi.

Support for additional MS-Office formats:

E.g. DOTX: The new version now also includes all MS-Office templates. E.g. DOTX over their file extensions or via the MIME types.

eDocPrintPro Tools – Version 3.24.8 available

Innovations eDocPrintPro Tools Version 3.24.8:

The tools eDocPrintProUtil.exe and ApplyEsf.exe have been modified. The file extensions for eDocPrintPro profile files have changed in an eDocPrintPro predecessor version from ESF to ESFX, which means that an adaptation was required. With the new tools, ESFX profiles can now be loaded interactively or loaded and activated via command line parameters.

The parameters / LOAD and / APPLY have been added to ApplyEsf.exe. With / LOAD the profile is only selected, but not loaded, while / APPLY selects the profile and loads it at the same time.

eDocPrintProUtil.exe Command line example to create 2 additional printers, load and activate an ESFX profile, and lock the user interface of the printer.

EMail Archiver for FileConverterPro – Version 4.4.1

Innovations Version 4.4.1:

Integration – MSG Export – With the function for archiving together with the Commandline integration for further processing, only the PDF file generated from the message was previously made available in the “Download folder”. Now the MSG with the same name is also exported in the same folder. Thus, downstream programs that are called by commandline also have access to the MSG file.

Integration – Commandline % Variables – Error correction – these are now used correctly.

Background processing – suppress confirmation message – If jobs are inserted into the background processing queue, the user will receive a message that he must confirm. This display can now be deactivated via a checkbox whereby the complete processing and archiving is done silently.
